Digital Foot Scanning
The digital foot scanning is performed on a platform which has a lot of sensors in order to depict the pressure points and the anatomy of the sole of the feet on the computer screen via logistic software. It is a non painful process where the patient is requested to stand for a few seconds (static analysis) and to walk (dynamic analysis) on the platform.
- Disturbances in posture: increased kyphosis, hyperlordosis, scoliosis
- Gait disturbances
- Leg length discrepancy
- Stiffness and joint pain of the lower back, leg and foot
- Foot conditions: flat feet, arched feet (koilopody), pronation, plantar fasciitis, heel spur
- Toe conditions: callus, halux valgus, hammer toe
It is essential that the above conditions are treated so as to allow the patient to return to previous levels of activity, and to prevent any harm in such joints as hip, knee and pelvis. For example, flat feet are often related to knee pain and muscle fatigue because they displace the axes of gait in the lower leg, hence disturbing walking.
As for their treatment apart from the musculoskeletal approach it may be suggested, if necessary, to use specific insoles (orthotics, and/or postural insoles) which are manufactured by a certified podiatrist. The procedure involves the performance of particular testing before this kind of suggestion.
